Operation Safe and Sound

Hi everyone!

I have a special post today.  Our dear friend Christy's home was broken into and a lot of their things were either destroyed or taken. Some things held such sentimental value that nothing will replace it.   What makes our community so remarkable is that we are there for each other even though we can't physically be near our friends. These "people" violated her home, the place where we are supposed to feel the most safe, where we raise our children and where we sleep in peace. I can not even imagine what she is going thru or the loss she has endured.  Dealing with the police and insurance company has been and continues to be exhausting and frustrating for Christy and her family. She has been updating her facebook page with some details.

Some of Christy's friends have come together to help. We are of course making cards for her because that's what we do, right? And here is my card:

Ultimately, the expense of trying to get her family back on their feet will be somewhat of a strain. Imagine having to replace household items, necessities in our world all while trying to rebuild a sense of security that we all most times take for granted.

So, we're asking for your help. We've tried to make it convenient for you to help Christy and her family. There's a PayPal button on each of our blogs. We are asking that if its your hearts desire, that you donate whatever you can to help Christy and her family regain a sense of safety and security.  NOTHING is too small. Every little bit will make all the difference. Our goal is to raise $1,000 to help cover the costs of food, lodging and replacing at least some of the items taken.

Thank you for even reading this post in its entirety.
If you're interested in seeing all of the cards, a full list of girls who are participating in the card drive  is available at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog & A Blog Named Hero"

Happy Birthday Michelle!

Hi everyone!
Today is Michelle's birthday! yay! Happy Birthday!!!!
Over at A Blog Named Hero we made some cards for her, cause she is the best and she deserves all the love we can give her. Here is the card I made:
I decided to go for an acetate window card. I got to use one of the new embossing folders from Spellbinders. They are great and I love that zig zag pattern. Here is a close up of the window, sorry for the bad pic:
So go over to Michelle's blog and wish her happy birthday! To see the cards from the DT girls, click here!
And if you are looking for a challenge, go to our Flickr group, cause Michelle and Kelly have a sketch for you, to bring the mojo back. You can't miss it!

Cute turtle

Hi everyone!
How was your weekend? Here it was a busy one. I have people coming over to stay with us this week and I have to organize a couple of parties for my birthday. Cause, yes, on Friday I'm turning 30! So lots of planning going on.
Anyway, I had time to make a card for the current Paper Smooches Sparks challenge, and here it is:
I was inspired by this card by Stephanie. How great is her card?! Loved the scattered dots she used on it, so I had to try stamping with a pencil eraser!
Here is the picture for the challenge:
There are still a couple of hours left to participate on this challenge, and if you don't think you have enough time, why don't you play along with A Blog Named Hero? It is a great color challenge!!!
So time to go to bed for me, I hope you liked the card and thanks for stopping by!
